Moms RUN This Town

As many of you may know, I have a deep love for running. Although, that has not always been the case. I was once enlisted in the United States Army and while I served I honestly loathed the fact that I had to run everyday! But, that all changed three years ago when I reconnected with an old friend and the two of us made the decision to support each other, train together and run our first ever 5k! The friendship, support, and accountability that came with having Jen by my side helped me to get through the ups and downs (and there was a lot at the beginning), and actually achieve more than I ever thought was possible.

So, fast forward three years, 2 - Half Marathons, 1- Half Marathon Relay, 1- 10- Miler, and numerous 5k's and you have the start of a local running club that offers that same support, accountability and friendship... Charlotte County, FL Moms RUN This Town!

 

Our local chapter of this national running club is only in it's infancy stages (it just started in January) but it already is taking off with a bang. We currently have 20 active members and the support and friendships that have begun are priceless. Charlotte County MRTT has even been lucky enough to have it's first official sponsor, Lily Bomb Athletic Wear. If you haven't heard of this company yet, they are the customer friendly maker of sparkle skirts at an affordable mom friendly price! The owner of Lily Bomb Athletic Wear, Marina, was once even a member of Moms RUN This Town, so she understands, the benefits of being part of such a great organization. Forty Is The New Twenty

Last weekend I turned forty, yes I am putting it out there and yes, I said it, FORTY! 

It was a great birthday, as far as birthdays go. I spent the weekend with family and friends and of course, I had to do a little running. But, as I sat there listening to everyone tease me about being "Over The Hill" I wondered what could I do that was out of my comfort zone, something new and exciting, something unlike most forty year old. After some thinking, and a little nudge from my good friend, Jen, I decided to start this blog! Yep, I know, it is crazy and I don't even know if anyone will listen or even care, but never the less, I am going to give it a go and see where God takes it. I do that a lot with things in my life!

So, welcome to my new blog. First of all let me warn you ahead of time, I am not the queen of grammar or spelling.  So, if you're one of those people who bites your bottom lip when you see badly written articles, this blog may not be for you! I am who I am (said Sam I am)! I am a proud Christian, a wife of seventeen years, a mother to three wild boys, a woman who has had numerous jobs, but still doesn't know what she want to do when she grows up, a Disney lover, and most recently a runner. I love how God made me (most of the time), and I think forty is going to be the new twenty, full of adventure, fun and craziness! So, my plan for the next forty years is simple, live life to the fullest, trying new things, and embrace every moment, good or bad, and if you want to follow along, I would love to have you join me!
